Welcome to NU Stage!

NU Stage Musical Theater Company is Northeastern's only student-run musical theater group.  It was established in 2003 by a group of students looking for a creative musical outlet. Since then we've grown to producing four shows per year in Blackman Auditorium, one show during Welcome Week in the Fenway Center, and small cabarets in After Hours. We are currently a team of about 200 active members.

SUMMER SHOW:

In the Summer II semester, Julia Benson (Linguistics/Psychology, '17) will be directing the Welcome Week revue with the theme of "Around the World." Songs in the show will fall under the genre of international adventure and travel. Selections will be pulled from musicals with different exotic settings! More information about auditions to come. Julia can be reached at benson.ju@husky.neu.edu

FALL SHOWS:

Logan Merrithew (Industrial Engineering '15) will direct the mainstage production of Urinetown, an award-winning satirical comedy musical that pokes fun at capitalism, socialism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and petty small-town politics. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! The director can be contacted at merrithew.l@husky.neu.edu.

Justin Hewitt (Electrical Engineering, '18) will direct the Fall revue titled Astonishing. The show will focus around the theme of self-discovery, rising from restrictions and seeking to become astonishing in one way or another. There would not be a script or characters that carry all the way through, but there would be a few “sets of 3”. Small plot lines will help to make the show smooth and coherent to tell the characters' stories. The director can be contacted at hewitt.ju@husky.neu.edu
